Why we exist
Short breaks should feel simple, not rushed.
Short Break Holidays was created for people looking to step away for two or three nights – long enough to reset, but short enough to fit easily around everyday life. We focus on stays where a shorter break still feels complete, without needing packed itineraries or long lists of things to do.
Whether that break happens midweek or at a quieter moment around the weekend, the aim is the same: time away that feels easy, calm and well chosen.
How we choose the stays we feature
Every stay featured on Short Break Holidays is selected for fit, not volume.
We look for places that genuinely work for 2-3 night breaks, often because:
- The setting rewards slowing down
- A short stay still feels satisfying
- You don’t need to travel far or plan extensively
- The experience isn’t dependent on a full week
Midweek stays feature strongly because they often offer a quieter, more relaxed version of the same place, but they are not the only way to enjoy a short break.
What this site is (and isn’t)
Short Break Holidays is:
- An editorial guide to 2-3 night breaks
- Focused on places that feel well suited to shorter stays
- Built around ideas rather than exhaustive listings
It is not:
- A directory of every available cottage
- A deals or discount site
- A place to search availability by date
If you already know exactly where and when you want to go, accommodation providers are usually the best place to book. If you’re looking for inspiration for a short break that feels like a good use of limited time, that’s where this site fits.
About affiliate links (being transparent)
Some of the links on this site are affiliate links. If you click through and make a booking, we may earn a small commission from the accommodation provider.
This never influences which stays we feature or how they are described, and it doesn’t affect the price you pay. It simply helps support the running of the site and the time spent selecting and writing about each stay.
A considered way to take a break
Short Break Holidays is shaped by the belief that a few well-chosen nights away can be just as restorative as a longer trip… sometimes more so.
That’s why you’ll see an emphasis on:
- Two and three night stays
- Places that don’t rely on busy schedules
- Locations that feel calmer outside peak periods
The goal isn’t to do more in less time. It’s to choose places where less feels like enough.
